MARCH 6TH 2004

I would like thank all of you who generously donated time and energy to making this event at the NYC Center for Architecture such a success.
For the first time here in New York, it showed how the AIA and RIBA-USA can energize the entire architecture community and work towards a goal of mutual collaboration. Increasing the opportunities of fellowship, it illustrated how both organizations can work together to become more inclusive organizations and which will embrace the growing diversity which is enriching our profession.
The intention of both the RIBA and the AIA has always been that of helping other colleagues to understand and resolve common issues which confront us during our daily professional routine. Thanks to you all, this conference extended this beyond our immediate neighborhood to a global agenda. None of this would have been possible however without the exchange of your experiences and knowledge; we thank you for this generosity.
We now look forward to further collaborations between the AIA and RIBA with the knowledge that without your hard work for this event would have been a much more difficult task.

RIBA-USA + AIA OPEN STUDIO DAY - NEW YORK - SUNDAY 7TH MARCH 2004
Following the very succesful AIA and RIBA-USA International Architect's Symposium, RIBA-USA packed the studios of Munkenbeck & Marshall, Dewhurst Macfarlane and Atelier 10 for an OPEN STUDIO DAY.
The British architects and engineers opened their studios for a Sunday brunch to show their work that they have been illustrating the day before in their evening presentations.

Clockwise from Center:
The Offices of Dewhurst Macfarlane, Tim Clark (RIBA-USA President) greets UK Visitor, Tim Clark with Patrick Bellew of Atelier 10, Jonathan Wimpenny (RIBA-USA Chair NY) chats with Alfred Munkenbeck, Alfred Munkenbeck and staff, Munkenbeck & Marshall Studio.
Mind The Gap
it was inconceivable that RIBA would ever have a presence in the USA.." begins Mind The Gap article. This week's Architect's Newspaper has an excellent Review of the NYC International Symposium, which I attach. It gives 2 views; one English and one American.
