RIBA-USA Diverse City Exhibition

The travelling exhibit is designed to celebrate the diversity of architects in the host location. It will showcase the range and quality of design sand completed projects by a selection of minority or under-represented but qualified professionals who are active in the domain of architecture.

The Exhibition is divided into two sections. 'Movers and Shakers', displays organizations, committees, support groups and some individuals who actively promote diversity ensuring that the profession becomes as inclusive as possible. The Movers and Shakers panels are by invitation only, however we are open to suggestions of names and individuals that should be asked to submit panels. The individuals panels will educate and encourage others who are either entering into the architectural profession or that are already in it.

The exhibition, (a sister exhibition to the RIBA Diverse City London Exhibition - http://www.diversecity-architects.com) came to the US in the fall of 2003 and was initially displayed at "Buildboston" (http://www.buildboston.com) and at the Boston Society of Architects. Ten panels from this exhibition, along with the ten London panels, then traveled to Los Angeles in February, Sydney Australia, Auckland New Zealand, and China. At each stop the Host City will hold it's own diversity City Exhibition, and add ten panels to travel with the panels from the previous cities to the next exhibition location. The panels will then return to the US and be shown at the AIA Conference in Chicago in June 2004. Other stops are being planned. The travelling exhibition eventually returns to the RIBA in London for an exhibition and symposium illustrating the diversity of the profession worldwide.

Each city designs it's own format and layout to reflect that cities personality and defines the eligibility in response to the individual state or countries under-represented groups. The exhibition will be the first joint travelling RIBA/AIA exhibition in the US. The BSA Alien Architect's Roundtable and RIBA-USA New England will sponsor the exhibition in Boston. The RIBA-USA CALIFORNIA, the British Consulate LA and the AIA Los Angeles Chapter will jointly organize exhibition Los Angeles.

If you would like to submit an individual panel for inclusion in the exhibition please review the information on the right menu or contact the RIBA-USA Chapter Chairs - contact us.
