Sustainable Development
Jonathan B. Wimpenny AIA RIBA of the New York Chapter has been
invited to speak at the World Summit on Sustainable Development
at the United Nations in New York on Friday, 8th May 2003.
The conference, organized by the Global Alliance for Building
Sustainability, will address topics of how the Building Industry
is confronting issues of energy use and the environment. How
far the industry has been able to implement the "Charter for
Action ", which was signed in South Africa in 2002, will be
this year's topic in New York.

May 8 - 10: RIBA President Visit
President of the RIBA, Paul Hyett, visited the AIA Annual Convention
and a RIBA reception was held during the convention.

The reception was a continuing party from 6.30-9pm attended
by about 80 people. Paul Hyett spoke of the need for closer
joint working between AIA and RIBA to assist both professions

Thursday 8th May: RIBA New England Launch Event
Gordon Sainsbury, Stephen Stenson, Debbie Bentley and Mohamad
Farzan at the New England Chapter Launch Event
The launch event of the New England Chapter of the RIBA-USA
was held at the British Consulate in Boston attended by the
Consul General George Ferguson.
Gordon Sainsbury, Executive Director of The Designer Selection
Board (DSB) that selects designers for public building construction
throughout the Commonwealth, was the guest speaker.
