The RIBA’s Policy & International Relations Department will be holding a networking event at Portland Place focusing on the international market for services. The event is aimed at members interested in exporting their skills and will comprise a number of presentations on international co-operation, freedom of movement within the EU and the role of organisations such as the RIBA, Trade Partners UK and the British Consultants and Construction Bureau in helping architects to promote their practices overseas. There will be an opportunity to ask questions throughout the afternoon and a chance for informal discussion over drinks afterwards.
Speakers will include Colin Adams, Chief Executive of the BCCB, Matthew Benyon, Managing Director of exhibition organiser Montgomery International and Keith Lievesley of Trade Partners UK, as well as members active in representing the Institute on international issues. Charles Jencks. THE GARDEN OF COSMIC SPECULATION

Covering thirty acres in the Borders area of Scotland, the Garden of Cosmic Speculation is conceived as a place to explore certain fundamental aspects of the universe. What are atoms made of and how should we conceive of them? How does DNA make up a living organism and why is it essential to celebrate it in a garden? Charles Jencks has created a series of new, expansive, visual metaphors that challenge misleading and frequently misunderstood concepts. The garden celebrates nature and what emerges is a new language of landscape design based on twists and waves, optical illusions, and sudden surprises the "Big Bang".
All Lectures are on Tuesdays and begin November 19 at 6:30 P.M. at The Urban Center, 457 Madison Avenue at 51st Street.
