RIBA-USA AGM in San Antonio MAY 2007

The Annual General Meeting will be held this year in San Antonio Texas. Please RSVP if you wish to attend the events.

Please note in your diary the following events in the RIBA-USA program to which you are welcome if you are attending the AIA Convention in San Antonio. Please RSVP if you wish to attend the events on May 4th.

If you did not yet register for the Convention please visit http://www.aiaconvention.com If you wish to attend the Expo only this is free of charge. You may pre-register for this by choosing "Expo Only"

May 2nd 5pm-7pm AIA CES Marketplace. Our RIBA/ RIBA-USA stand will be hosted by RIBA Head of CPD Joni Tyler and her deputy and Niall Saunders RIBA California Chapter Chair representing the RIBA-USA National Board. Admission at the door $20.

May 4th (RSVP) 8.45am Reception and presentation; 9.30am RIBA-USA AGM at the office of Alvidrez Architecture, Inc on the corner of Houston and Broadway, at 110 Broadway, 2 mins from riverwalk and Alamo http://www.alvidrez.com/ (Thanks to Mike Legg RIBA of Alvidrez Architecture, Inc.). Admission free for RIBA members. AGM Chaired by Niall Saunders RIBA California Chapter Chair representing the RIBA-USA National Board.

May 4th (RSVP) 11am RIBA-USA Brunch and Welcome for the RIBA President Jack Pringle at Overland Architects at 5101 Broadway opposite the "Lion and Rose" http://www.overlandpartners.com/contact.html (thanks to James Andrews RIBA of Overland Architects and kindly hosted by the firm in the office courtyard). Admission free for RIBA members; non RIBA members must also pre-register - suggested donation $25.

May 4th from 1pm onwards – with RIBA-USA - Optional office visits, River walk and Alamo visit. Admission free, except the Alamo which you will have to fight your way into, with the paying masses.

Sunday, 27th May thru to 31st
Builders Without Borders will be presenting a workshop.
Location: Kingston, New Mexico.
Join a group of architecture students and others to get an overview of natural building and strategies for reducing your carbon footprint. The program includes experts in solar design and photo-voltaics (PV), strawbale building, cob and more. Participants will join a CO2 mitigation project (the 02 project) and learn about inspiring activities around the world (with magnificent photos). The complete program and registration details are listed below.
Space is limited to 20 participants.

COSTS: 4 + Day Workshop (sliding scale) $200 - 300 Includes camping*, showers, etc.
Food costs (14 meals) $65 Participants will contribute to meal prep and cleanup.

Macro to Micro: Grimshaw in New York presents the body of groundbreaking projects completed by this pioneering architecture firm in the past 25 years. Macro to Micro features the newest work being produced by Grimshaw's New York office, including the plans for the highly-anticipated expansion of the Queens Museum of Art. Recent work on the Experimental Media & Performing Arts Center in Troy, New York, the Fulton Street Transit Center in Manhattan and the Museo del Acero (Museum of Steel) in Monterrey, Mexico will be shown in conjunction with the complete array of new street furniture for New York - bus shelters, public restrooms and newsstands.
