The RIBA Philadelphia Chapter

The new Center for Architecture, Philadelphia PA

Welcome to the Philadelphia Chapter, the corporate headquarters of RIBA-USA. The Chapter, founded in 2005 by chair Clive Copping RIBA, currently has a board of seven members.

Building on the work of the other Chapters in the US, the Philadelphia Chapter, with kind support from AIA Philadelphia and legal council Saul Ewing, developed the legal framework for RIBA-USA, Inc. to operate as a legal entity, with a tax-exempt status.
We are delighted to act as the headquarters for the RIBA in America and can report that the RIBA considers RIBA-USA to be the template for chapters in other regions around the world.

Our role as HQ is to facilitate and assist the other Chapters with their initiatives.
As a non-profit organization, we function primarily as an educational resource for architects practicing in the USA and the UK.

Our goal, to foster professional growth and innovation through the cultural exchange of ideas, is as follows:

· To increase contact with the London headquarters for all overseas RIBA members within the United States and provide members a network for the exchange of ideas and experiences.
· To encourage Continuing Professional Development for the field of Architecture in the United States through collaboration with local and international institutions.
· To encourage a multi-disciplinary approach to Architecture by providing a platform for dialogue with a diverse range of professionals associated with the built environment.
· To establish academic links with the UK and develop educational and work exchange programs.
· To support RIBA UK’s wider objectives and serve as an advocate for the architectural profession.
